If you want to keep your skin healthy this July, check out these important reminders.

July often brings with it lots of fun outdoor activities such as barbecues, swimming, watermelon eating contests and more.  These tips will help keep you safe when having fun in the sun this month:

Seek Shade: The sun does the most damage between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Umbrellas, porches, hats and protective clothing can all help protect your skin from the sun’s harmful rays.

Wear Sunscreen: Apply sunscreen before leaving the house and at least every two hours.

Leave Fireworks to Professionals: Fireworks can create bad burns on your skin and result in some pretty bad injuries to other parts of your body. Opt to go see a professional display instead of setting off your own.

Be careful with Sparklers: The wire will remain hot enough to burn your skin even after the sparks have ended. Use caution.

Check the Grill: Make sure your grill is in proper working order to help prevent burns and injuries. Be sure to use heat resistant tools and never lean over an open flame.

Stay Hydrated and Remember to Eat: Be sure to take breaks from outdoor activities to keep your body fueled.

Be Responsible with Alcohol: Drinking too much can result in injuries to your body. It’s best to avoid alcohol, but if you plan to drink, do so in moderation.

Check for Ticks: If you’ve been outside, especially near the woods or lake, be sure to check for ticks before you go to bed.
