The Chemical Peel is a performed to remove the outer layer damage on the skin and reveal the smoother, more youthful skin beneath. Chemical Peels, as you might have guessed, use a chemical solution that comes in various strengths. The “stronger” the peel, the deeper it penetrates into the skin and the longer the recovery process. A light chemical peel only penetrates the outer layer of the skin, or the epidermis. This light peel is best for those looking to reduce the appearance of acne, fine wrinkles, and dry or uneven skin tones. The light peel can be performed every few weeks, as desired. The medium peel goes down from the epidermis to the mid-layer of the dermis and can reduce the appearance of unwanted wrinkles, uneven skin tone and some acne scars. This medium peel should only be repeated every three to nine months, as needed. Finally, the deep chemical peel penetrates past the mid-layer of the dermis to the lower layer of the dermis and may be used to reduce the appearance of deep wrinkles or scars. This deep chemical peel should only be performed once.
