Meet Dr. David Harvey - Dermatologist & Mohs Surgeon

Dr. David Harvey is the current President for the Georgia Society of Dermatology and Dermatological Surgery. He also currently serves on volunteer faculty at Emory School of Medicine where he instructs Dermatology residents and medical students. Dr. Harvey completed medical school training at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Afterwards, he completed a primary care internal medicine residency at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry followed by a dermatology residency at the University of South Florida College of Medicine. He is board certified in both Dermatology and Internal Medicine. In 2010, he completed an ACGME accredited fellowship in Procedural Dermatology (Mohs Surgery) at the University of Texas-Southwestern in Dallas. He has dermatology and surgical privileges at Piedmont Newnan & Fayette Hospitals where he is an active staff member.

Dr. Harvey has previously held posts as President for both the Florida Society of Dermatologic Surgeons and the Florida Society of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery. He is an active member of the Noah Worcester Society, American College of Mohs Surgery, American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, American Society for Mohs Surgery, American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, American Academy of Dermatology, and American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. He currently serves as a nationwide peer reviewer for the American Society of Mohs Surgery. Academically, Dr. Harvey has taught cosmetic and reconstructive procedures to dermatology residents at Emory and the University of Texas- Southwestern.

Dr. Harvey has 20 years experience in cosmetic and dermatologic surgery. His expertise lies in the field of cutaneous oncology, Mohs Micrographic Surgery, laser surgery, and eyelid surgery. He lectures nationally on topics involving reconstructive skin surgery and cosmetic dermatology. He has authored over 20 peer reviewed publications in the field of skin cancer, cosmetic dermatology, aging skin, and eyelid surgery.

He is married with two beautiful children and lives in Fayetteville, GA.

L. Evan Michael, MD, PhD, FAAD

Dr. L. Evan Michael grew up in Colorado and earned his undergraduate degree at Grinnell College in Grinnell, IA. He then completed a two-year post-baccalaureate research fellowship at the National Cancer Institute, part of the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Michael then made the move to Ann Arbor, Michigan, where he earned both his MD with Distinction in Research and his PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology at the University of Michigan. While at the University of Michigan, he was elected as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor society and received the Dean’s Commendation for excellence in clinical skills and the art of medicine and the Department of Dermatology’s Arthur C. Curtis award for excellence in Dermatology basic science.

Dr. Michael’s transitional year took place at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. Dr. Michael completed his dermatology residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and then returned to New York for a Dermatopathology fellowship in the combined Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center/Cornell University Hospital program. He is board certified in both Dermatology and Dermatopathology. He has authored numerous papers on Dermatology, Dermatopathology, and Cancer Biology, and has spoken at regional, national, and international meetings. Dr. Michael has also served as a guest lecturer on Dermatopathology to students at Emory University and the Medical College of Georgia and has lectured to the Georgia Dermatology Physician Assistant group.

Dr. Michael is an active member of the Atlanta Association for Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery, the Georgia Society of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery, the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society of Dermatopathology, the International Society of Dermatopathology, the American Medical Association, and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

Dr. Michael currently lives in Historic College Park with his wife and two rambunctious dogs. In his spare time, he enjoys gardening, CrossFit, amateur woodworking, and riding motorcycles with his wife.

 

Jessica Beattie, MSN, FNP-C

Jessica Beattie attended Auburn University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She then attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham for her Masters of Science in Nursing degree. She is an active member of many organization including the America Association of Nurse Practitioners, the National Academy of Dermatology Nurse Practitioners and the United Advance Practice Registered Nurses of Georgia. Ms. Beattie is most passionate about skin care and aesthetics such as neurotoxins and fillers. “I absolutely adore instilling confidence in women and making them feel good about themselves,” she says. “Giving people better self-confidence is so rewarding.” She entered the field of dermatology based on her own childhood experience with acne. After two rounds of Accutane, she was able to achieve good skin, and she enjoys helping people feel good about themselves. In the field of dermatology she is most passionate about treating acne, psoriasis, hand dermatitis, warts and addressing all cosmetic concerns.
