Laser Hair Removal Newnan

Laser Hair RemovalWHAT IS THE LASER HAIR REMOVAL PROCEDURE?

The laser hair removal procedure uses a specific wavelength of light to treat:

  1. Unwanted Dark Hair (Face, Chin, Legs, Bikini, Back)
  2. Pseudofolliculitis Barbae
  3. Ingrown Hair Follicles

Our laser hair removal device is FDA approved for laser hair removal. Its unique patented chill tip make the device very easy to use and helps to maximize patient comfort.

HOW LONG DOES TREATMENT TAKE? HOW MANY SESSIONS ARE NEEDED?

Treatment with the laser takes anywhere from 15 minutes to 1 hour depending on the area(s) that are treated. Usually 3 to 12 treatments sessions are required to see a 50 to 80% improvement. These are spaced out every 4 to 6 weeks or when the hair starts to regrow in the area(s) being treated.

BEFORE AND AFTERS- LASER HAIR REMOVAL

WHAT ARE THE PRE-OP INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE LASER HAIR REMOVAL PROCEDURE?

Typically, we ask our patients to discontinue the use of retinoic acid products and glycolic acid products beginning 3 to 4 days before your treatment. In addition, we will sometimes prescribe an antiviral medication if the treatment is in an area where cold sores form. It is also wise to stay out of intense sunlight (or tanning beds) both 1 week prior and after your treatment.

HOW MUCH DISCOMFORT CAN I EXPECT FROM THE TREATMENT?

There is minimal, if any, discomfort with our Laser Hair Removal procedure. A topical anesthetic is all that is used. This is applied for 30 to 60 minutes on the treatment area(s). Pain usually is described as a mild irritation, or stinging sensation which can be controlled with cool compresses, topical corticosteroids and medications such as ibuprofen.

HOW LONG DOES THE SKIN STAY INFLAMMED?

The advanced technology of laser allows for the skin to recover quickly. There can be some minor redness and follicle inflammation immediately postop. This manifests as a “goose bump” appearance of the skin and quickly disappears within a matter of days. Sometimes one can develop crusting or hypopigmentation at the treatment site. These effects are rare and can persist for up to a few weeks.

WHAT ABOUT POST OP CARE?

It is important to stay out of intense sunlight for the week after your laser hair removal treatment. Concealing makeup, e.g. Jane Iredale™, can be used to minimize redness.

HOW LONG WILL I SEE A BENEFIT FROM LASER HAIR REMOVAL?

The benefits from the laser hair removal procedure can last for several years. Repeat treatments are sometimes required but this is determined on a case by case basis. In our experience, patient satisfaction has been extremely high. One can also combine laser with medical therapies such as spironolactone or Vaniqa™ to optimize results.

The visit was on of the most pleasant I have ever had when visiting with a new doctor. The nurses were wonderful and Dr. Harvey was great. One a scale of 1-10, everyone is a 10.

    Chemical Peel

The precise formulas in peels vary and the type utilized is personally adjusted to meet each patient’s needs. For example, tricholoracetic acid (TCA) is a medium depth peel, which can eliminate brown spots and help to even out textural irregularities on the face and neck. Downtime is usually around 7 days. Glycolic acid peels are referred to as lunchtime peels.

    Facelift

The “lyft” procedure is coined term that we are using to describe a procedure which removes excess fat and skin from the lower face, neck or both. Skin and musculature is tightened in the process. Repositioning of the skin allows our patients to achieve a more youthful appearance. Those who respond best have deep cheek folds and loose sagging skin around the neck. As we age, fat pads descend from the upper cheek and skin laxity becomes more prominent in the jowl regions of the face. Our lyft technique uses smaller incisions. These are hidden behind the ear folds and/or in the crease just under the chin. By minimizing incision length (and undermining), the procedure is safer and requires less downtime than that seen with a traditional facelift.
