David T. Harvey, MD Mohs Surgeon & Cosmetic Dermatologist

The Harvey chalazion clamp was designed by Dr. David Harvey. It reverses the curvature of the traditional chalazion clamp such that the open portion of the clamp is concave rather than convex. The advantages of this modification are to mimic the natural concavity of the upper and lower eyelid, scaphoid and triangular fossa of the ear, conchal bowl and oral mucosa. As with the standard chalazion clamp, the Harvey chalazion clamp is useful for I& D and simple extraction procedures, which tend to be performed in vascular areas.
