There’s an old saying – to know something like the back of your hand. But you’d be surprised to learn how often people are unfamiliar with their skin and the different types of growths that can occur. An important part of self-care is knowing your own skin so that you notice when potentially dangerous bumps and moles arise.

One of the difficulties of skin growths is that there are dozens of different types, which can make it difficult to identify which growths are actually dangerous. That’s why it’s important to have a skilled dermatologist available if you have a lesion or growth that concerns you.

Dermatologist David Harvey offers a helpful reference page for his patients. If you find an unidentifiable bump or growth, you can schedule an appointment with our office to get a diagnosis.
